card for people who can't afford prescription drugs.
Governor Charlie Crist made the announcement today.
People 60 and older who don't have prescription drug coverage or
who are covered by Medicare but fall through the program's
prescription drug gap will be eligible for the card.
The program will also be available to people under age 60 who
don't have presription drug coverage if their income is below a
certain level. For individuals, the threshold will be just over
$30,000 a year. For a family of four, the cutoff is an income below
about $62,000.
Savings will vary depending on the drug. Average savings on the
most commonly used drugs will range from five percent to more than
40 percent.
