Matt Brown was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January. He's in a battle for his life. Now his friends and "car buddies" are stepping in to help with the "Car Show For A Cause" fundraiser. Matt Brown has loved cars since he was knee high. He's had his 1940 Cadillac LaSalle for 40 years. For many of those years, his LaSalle wasn't in running condition. With work and family, he just didn't have time to work on it. When he was diagnosed with lung cancer, some of his friends decided it was time to get it running again.
That's not all his friends are doing for him. They are also getting ready for a car show fundraiser to help Matt with his medical expenses. They say it's time to give back to someone who has always been so helpful.
Lloyd Scott is one of Matt's good friends. "Over the years I've needed a lot of help with various things and when that need was there, Matt was always there to help us."
Doug Johnson agrees. "Anytime anyone needed help, Matt was the man to call on. We're just happy to do something for him."
The "Car Show For A Cause" will be held this Saturday, September 22nd from 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. It will be held at the Semmes Community Center. Cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome to compete. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The cost is 20 dollars per entry. Judging will begin at 12:30.
There will also be door prizes, a silent auction, a rummage sale, food and much more.
The Semmes Community Center is on Highway 98 1/2 mile west of Snow Road in Mobile.
