TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A new tool is available to help parentsidentify red flags for autism in children.
A Web site, developed by Florida State University, "Autism
Speaks" and "First Signs," illustrates the early warning signs
of autism and aims to get autistic children into intervention
programs earlier.
Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the
United States. Today, one in 150 children is diagnosed with autism
and experts agree early intervention is crucial.
But too often, parents and pediatricians are missing some of the
red flags for the disorder and that can delay help.
The Web site is designed to show parents and pediatricians the
early warning signs of autism.
