For some, Valentine's Day and the delicious chocolates that come with it, arrive too soon after promises of a healthy new year. But nutrition experts say some chocolates may be healthier than others.It's almost impossible to ignore the scrumptious smells of chocolate during Valentine's Day. And if you're one of the lucky ones who gets chocolates on this romantic holiday, do you know which ones, if any, are healthiest?
Some studies suggest dark chocolate may be better than milk chocolate because of its protective, antioxidant effects.
Dark chocolate seems to have more of the flavinols that we have identified in chocolate that have certain health benefits.
Chocolates with nut clusters are not only popular, but the combination of protein and unsaturated fat may satisfy your hunger.
And to make the most of your chocolate-eating experience, experts suggest drinking something hot with it.
Chocolate may also help wash away sugar from the teeth. but as with any wonderful indulgence, keep in mind that everything is better in moderation.
According to the Chocolate Manufacturer's Association, more than 36 million heart-shaped chocolate boxes are sold for Valentine's Day.
