Amid the festivities at the order of Isis, 79-year-old Jackie Mullen is the star of her table.“We've all enjoyed her, she's always thought of us first so tonight we're thinking of her first,” says Granddaughter Rene Green. Known as “B-mal” to her relatives, Jackie Mullen's been fighting lung disease. Her family says Jackie loves Mardi Gras and her last wish was to attend one more ball with her family before she passes away.
“All of her aunts, her daughters made parade floats, she's been coming for 20 years she has not missed a parade nor a ball every year,” says Green. As the family enjoys this last party with the family matriarch they're also able to pass along lessons to each other.
“She's just taught us to keep going on no matter what be yourself, life to the fullest and that's what we've done,” says daughter Gloria Pasquill.
