MardI Gras is cranking up another notch in Mobile. The Polka Dots Parade took to the streets of downtown Thursday night.
From now until Fat Tuesday, there will be a parade almost every night in Mobile.
A number of people are already starting to come in from out-of-town.
Pam Beam is from Noblesville, Indiana.
When asked why she came to Mobile, Beam said, "We've heard that this is a wonderful place to experience Mardi Gras, so we decided to come and check it out, and its great so far."
Sheila James of Cullman, Alabama said, "We saw it on TV, so we rode down here."
When asked if it was more fun than anything she's seen in Cullman, James said, "Yes, it is. They have a fire parade once a year (in Cullman), but there's not nothing much to it."
Luke Christopher from Harwell, Georgia said, "I didn't know Mobile even celebrated Mardi Gras. I thought it was just New Orleans."
Jonna Reigle came all the way to Mobile from Shamokin, Pennsylvania.
She said, "I've never been to a Mardi Gras parade, nothing like this."
Some visitors are enjoying more than just parades.
Marjorie Baden and Bill McCoy of Jacksonville, Florida said they saw the Battleship Alabama Thursday.
McCoy said it "was impressive. You really have got a lot of history here."
