The National Weather Service says the storm damage in Citronelle (AL) and McDavid (FL) was caused by straight line winds. They also confirmed there were brief, weak tornadoes in Conecuh and Covington Counties.

US Senate Renews Nat’l Flood Insurance Program

In a 92-6 vote, the US Senate passed a renewal of the National Flood Insurance Program until 2013. The Senate bill will also create a commission to study how available and affordable catastrophic insurance is in places prone to hurricanes and earthquakes.
