Mobile Sheriff's Flotilla rescued an elderly female from the waters off the Dauphin Island Bridge this morning. Dauphin Island Police discovered the woman in the water before 4:30am as they were checking an abandoned car with it's emergency lights flashing on the side of the bridge. Police called the Coast Guard and Mobile County Sheriff's Flotilla for assistance in getting the woman out of the water. She was pulled out of the water by the Flotilla just after 6am. Authorities said the woman appears to be in good condition. Authorities say the woman fell off the bridge but they aren't exactly sure of the circumstances why.

You must be the cop I was talking about this morning! If not your doing an excellent job defending him! Look, all I’m saying is this poor woman laid in the water for more than an hour and a half completely helpless and freezing waiting on someone to help her! And to answer your statement, I won’t be going down there today to try it, but had I been there this morning I would not have thought twice about trying to help her(other than a radio call to someone else). If I had been there and not done anything,I could not sleep at night and call myself a man!

Well then why don’t you go to Dauphin Island later and try and swim from where the car was to where she was and then you will really know how hard that is.....

Yes I have several times.According to the update she was about 30 feet offshore! Give me a break! 30 ft or 300 ft! How about a little effort?

wmda have you even been on the dauphin island bridge?  It is not a short distance to the water.

What is this world coming too? The very people that are paid to “protect and serve” let an elderly woman tread water for over an hour after they found her waiting on the “proper personell” to save her! If I were the officer that found her, I would not be able to show my face much less call myself an officer of the law! What happened to bravery? Hope I’m never on the island and need any help!
