A contractor working for the City of Mobile broke the 12-inch water main at Florida and Emogene Streets around 10:30 a.m. The break forced Mobile Area Water & Sewer System to shut off water to customers on Florida, between Dauphin Street and Mt. Island Drive.
Crews excavated the pipe, made the repair and restored service in about two hours. Customers on Florida, between Dauphin St. and Mt. Island Dr. were without water during the repairs. MAWSS provided bottled water to affected customers.
