Before crews could fix the water main they had to shut the water off.
This mishap was a huge inconvenience to nearby businesses.
The Whistle Stop restaurant had to close because it didn't have water.
A dentist was in the middle of treating patients when he had to tell them to go home.
"We had to send the patients home in whatever condition they were in and then when people came to the office we had to tell them we couldn't see them and we had to call the other ones ahead of time and let them know we weren't going to be able to deliver their treatment for that day," said Dr. William O'Neal.
Mobile Area Water and Sewer System helped construction crews repair the broken water main.
It took about two hours.
