Christen is part of Baker High School's class of 2008. Her dad is a soldier stationed a Camp Victory in Iraq.
The Mobile County School District is using technology and the world wide web to bring the two together.
"He's the most important person in my life," says Christen. "He's pretty much everything to me, and I don't know what I would do without him."
David Akridge, the school district's executive manager of technology, says the Mobile is the first school district in the country to stream their graduations live on the Internet. Six cameras are set up to capture six angles of the graduation.
"The dad today should see a really good close up of his daughter. It's gonna be incredible," said Akridge.
More than 3,000 Mobile high school students will graduate at the Mitchell Center on the University of South Alabama campus. All the graduations are being streamed on the web, and so far, hundreds of family and friends have taken advantage of watching the ceremonies online.
"The first thing she said to me was my daddy is so excited he's gonna see me graduate," said Tracye Mathis, who developed the plan for recording the graduations. Mathis says they plan to use the technology to stream other school events in the future.
If you've already missed a graduation, the videos are archived on the school district's website.
