Police began the early morning busts just before 5am at an apartment complex on Leroy Stevens Road. Most of the people arrested were wanted for unpaid traffic tickets.
"He come in there and woke me up and said I'm going to jail baby, you better get up," said Ashley Davis, who watched as her husband and three neighbors were hauled off to jail.
A police spokesperson says the arrests could have been avoided if more people had taken advantage of the city's amnesty program last summer.
"They could have taken care of business," said Nancy Johnson of the Mobile Police Department. "It would have been so much easier for them. Now we're going to their homes and we will be going to their businesses," said Johnson.
"It makes you realize you need to pay your speeding tickets," said Davis.
Johnson says the round ups will continue. Anyone with an unpaid traffic ticket can avoid being arrested by calling the Mobile Police Department Warrants Unit at 438-7033 or the District Attorney's Recovery Unit at 574-5510.
