A new campaign begins Friday in Mobile to alert people on when they can vote in the Presidential Preference Primary.Election day in Alabama is February 5th, but that's Mardi Gras Day.
So election officials in Mobile and Baldwin Counties are giving you a chance to vote early, on Wednesday, January 30th.
On January 30th in Mobile County, all polling places will be be open regular hours.
But on February 5th, Mobile County officials will have one poll open, at the main offices of the Mobile Revenue Commissioner at Azalea Road and Michael Boulevard.
Mobile County Probate Court Judge Don Davis says, "We are hoping that most, if not all, of our citizens vote on the 30th. But we've never encountered this before in the history of Mobile in elections, and we'll probably never encounter it again."
On January 30th in Baldwin County, only the Foley Civic Center will be open for voters.
But on Fat Tuesday all polling places in Baldwin County will be open.

Its not about wether a person will go to Mardi Gras to forgo elections. It is about access to the polls. Many parades will be in places where people will not have easy access to the polls. I believe this is on purpose in my opinion.
