Police say the beating of a 13-year-old boy that's making national headlines after it was caught on tape is not a hate crime.
A teenager video taping skate boarders recorded the attack over the weekend in Norfolk, Virginia. Five african american teenagers push and punch a white teenager. When he falls to the ground, they kick him in the face. All five suspects have turned themselves in.
Today, police said the attack was not racially motivated. They're charging the teens with misdemeanor mob assault which means they could face up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Someone please tell me how this or any other crime is not a “hate” crime. These boys whether they were black or white don’t appear to have any affection for the child being beaten. We need to wake up and stop trying to make everything black or white. This as in every crime where someone is hurt in some way is most definetely a HATE crime. I have never known any crime to be an act of compassion.

I am not going to say this is a hate crime or not all I will say is that if it had been five white boys beating a African American and the police said the attack was not racially motivated you would see Al Sharpton and his buddy Jesse Jackson jump in and try to stir up some mess.

Don’t be too hasty, MeAmerican. Wkrg actually investigated this story and found out this was not actually about race but about boys being boys.

I have a renewed faith in wkrg just for the simple fact that they did run the story. Had it been reversed they would have aired it for what it was.

Since wkrg actually followed up on a story to prove a point.

I want to see them air this in full and try to spin this one. Never found ONE story on this site pertaining to this. And lookie here, it has been an ongoing situation.
