MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's unemployment rate declined to
3.7 percent in February.
That compares to 4.0 percent in January.
The state Department of Industrial Relations said Friday the
state's rate was below the national jobless rate of 4.8 percent.
The February mark ties Alabama with Delaware, Kansas, Louisiana
and New Hampshire for the 14th lowest unemployment rate in the
country. That's an improvement from January, when Alabama was tied
with Louisiana for 17th place.
The U.S. Department of Labor reports that South Dakota had the
nation's lowest unemployment rate in February at 2.6 percent, and
Michigan had the highest at 7.2 percent.
