ATMORE, Ala. (AP) - A south Alabama pilot was killed when his
ultralight aircraft crashed in rural Escambia County late Sunday
afternoon.
Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith said 21-year-old Chris
Vanree of Poarch was in the ultralight when it crashed into a
remote airfield while attempting to land.
Witnesses said the aircraft went down at about 5 p.m. near the
McCullough community, located north of Poarch.
