Authorities are looking for clues into the shooting of a dog over the weekend in Brewton.The Humane Society of Escambia County, Alabama said the dog was found in a dumpster behind a Dollar General Store in Brewton.
Staff members say the animal was wrapped in a blanket and tossed among the garbage.
Renee Jones, the director of the Humane Society of Escambia County, Alabama, said the dog "had three bullets in her, two in her neck, and one in her front leg. It (the bullet) had shattered her front leg and then the hip area had been damaged by some type of blunt force trauma."
Because of the injuries, humane society officials say the dog had to be put to sleep.

Humane Society officials in Montgomery say the dog is recovering, but is having to undergo laser treatment to help heal his burns.

It breaks my heart every time I see one of these animal abuse pictures. How anyone could hurt or torture any defenseless creature is beyond me. It seems like there are more and more cases all the time, or maybe we are just more aware of it since the media is doing such a good job reporting it. Maybe if more people become aware of the extent of this problem, they will get involved to help stop it.
