A newspaper reports in today's edition that
Tommy Tuberville is close to signing a new agreement to remain as
Auburn's head football coach.
The article in the Birmingham News states Tuberville and AU
Athletics Director Jay Jacobs agreed in principal to extend his
contract. But other issues still need to be resolved.
Tuberville and Jacobs met yesterday and are scheduled to meet
again today.
The 53-year-old Tuberville has led the Auburn football program
to a 79-33 record over nine seasons, including a 7-2 mark against
Alabama.
