Tommy Gordon has owned his tow truck business for over 40 years, but these days he says his trucks are not hitting the road as much as they used to.
"We're picking the jobs that we go on right now and right now we're towing like for $125.00 and we don't know how much longer we could do that," Said Tommy Gordon.
Gordon says the cost of diesel fuel is to blame. He says as a commercial business owner he gets first dibs on a lot of the towing jobs in Mobile County thanks to a city ordinance that keeps his company in their records. But there is one draw back, he says he can't raise his towing rates and right now he says he needs to. "All the record companies are hurting, a lot of companies are talking about shutting down closing up and things like that in Mobile,"Said Gordon.
At this rate, Gordon says these trucks may have to stay in park for good. "We're going to have to shut down because we won't be making a profit and if we're not making a profit we can't survive,"Said Gordon.
Tommy Gordon says he and other tow trucking companies are trying to get the City of Mobile to make an amendment to the commercial tow truck ordinance so they can increase towing charges.

Well, if your tow trucks would quit riding through the place they reside at 10-20 times a day just maybe they could keep gas in the tow trucks!!!!!
