Three tornadoes in central and southeasternVirginia have left more than 200 people injured.
The twisters also tossed cars, and damaged buildings and homes.
Governor Tim Kaine has declared a state of emergency for the
areas of southeastern Virginia.
The National Weather Service confirms there were three
tornadoes. A federal meteorologist says the tornado that struck the
city of Suffolk was "major." A Suffolk spokeswoman says multiple
buildings and homes were destroyed.
In Colonial Heights south of Richmond, the storm overturned cars
and damaged buildings.
The storm left about 9,000 customers without power.
