Doctors performed a tracheotomy Thursday to make it easier for Joseph Toomey to breath.
The Satsuma High School Football player was paralyzed last month in a car crash. He's undergoing treatment at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
Toomey's parents say the trach site is real sensitive, but he's able to rest well and is feeling good.
Someone has offered to let Toomey's parents stay in an apartment two blocks from the rehab center, rent free, through the end of February.
The family says they are continuously amazed by the outpouring of support. Last night, the principal of Forest Hill Elementary School gave the family a donation from her students. The kids raised hundreds of dollars by collecting their snack money.
If you'd like to keep up with Toomey's progress on a daily basis, his parents have set up a website. See "Toomey Family Blog" under external links.
