A two-year old boy drowned in a swimming pool.

The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office tells News 5 the accident happened around 11:15 Thursday morning at a home on Maytower Road in Rabun.

Investigators say Trampus Prichett was inside the house playing with other kids. His mother and grandmother were in another room. Somehow, Prichett slipped out of the house, climbed a ladder and fell into an above ground pool.

Paramedics tried to revive the toddler but he died on the way to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation.

Every time I read one of these stories about a child drowning in a pool it makes me regret not following through on a simple device i made many years ago to sound an alarm when anything fell into a pool. We had a pool many years ago but when the grand kids started appearing we finally decided to fill in the hole for complete safety. It’s really sad when a baby drowns like this.

A locking gate also does not release the use of “PROPER Adult Supervision”! True enough, accidents do happen, however, 99% of the time, IGNORANCE plays a key factor in them. This story hits me close to home, as I have a 32 mth old son myself, and can not even begin to think of how I would begin to deal with an incident such as this!

A locking gate is only as reliable as the last person that went through it.

When my mom found out she was pregnant with my baby sister, she had a LOCKING gate installed to the fence around the pool. Needless to say my baby sister never drowned.
