The documentary, called “The War,” is told by those who lived through it. Burns says Mobile plays a big role in the film, "Of all the towns, there are more people from Mobile represented in our film than any of the other towns and that has to do with the southerners’ gift for storytelling; but it also has to do with the amazing stories they have to tell," said Burns. It's history, Burns says, told by real people, "we wanted to find out what so called ordinary people did, the people who did the fighting and the dying in the war and what you learn and what I think seeps out of every frame of this film is that in extraordinary times there are no ordinary lives. That's the promise of democracy, the great promise of this remarkable country," said Burns.
"The War," will air on Alabama Public Television starting September 23rd, at 7pm.
