“He lets me touch him and bathe him and pet him,” says the bull’s owner Shirley Burns. “He's just a big baby.” The bull’s name is Harley. He’s got the coloration and demeanor of a Dalmatian dog.
“Just show him a lot of attention, he's like a big dog,” says Shirley. “You show a dog good attention he'll be good, you show him bad and they're bad.” She began this tradition more than a decade ago. Shirley found that Harley was so gentle, the beast would just let her decorate him for Christmas. She wraps his horns in tinsel and lights, drapes his head with a Santa hat and ribbons. Harley seems to love the attention
“The only thing I have to do is kind of watch when he swings his head,” says Shirley. “His horns are so long that he could accidentally getcha, but he wouldn't mean to.” Shirley has a history with animals. Her sister says she always had a way with creatures and would even break wild horses when she was younger.
“Oh I was just shocked that you know, he would let her being a big bull like that,” says Shirley’s sister, Margie Shepherd. The decorations don’t last long. Shirley says they only stay on for a few days before falling off.
