BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Season two "American Idol" winner
Ruben Studdard is getting ready for a weekend wedding in his home
state.
The "Velvet Teddy Bear" is set to marry his girlfriend of two
years, Surata Zuri McCants, at Canterbury United Methodist Church
in Mountain Brook on Saturday.
He met his bride-to-be at a Wal-Mart store in Atlanta in October
2006 during a CD-signing when she went in to get one signed for a
friend.
Studdard said he was struck by her beauty and later tracked her
down in the toy department and asked for her phone number.
He has a lot planned after the wedding, including starring in
the 30th anniversary tour of "Ain't Misbehavin"' and opening a
restaurant and nightclub in Birmingham's new entertainment
district.
Studdard's also set to release a new album later this year.
