Over the past few months, some of the biggest economic development projects in the nation have decided to call Mobile home. But until those big businesses come to the area, people are still struggling to make ends meet.
Some folks News Five spoke to say they believe the country is heading into a recession.
Some say jobs aren't paying enough and it's hard to pay their bill each month.
At Consumer Credit Counseling in Mobile, we're told clients come in trying to get financial advice about paying off their mounting debt.
The agency helps people get on a budget and eliminate unwanted debt.
"Now is a good time to question all of the expenses that you have. Look at things that can be reduced, things that can be eliminated and try to put as much money into savings if you can so that if something does happen with your job, then you've got something to fall back on," said Consumer Credit Counseling Coordinator Scott Hehman.
Tuesday, the Federal Reserve slashed interest rates three quarters of a percent point...lowering the short term rate to two and a quarter percent.
It's the lowest point since 2004.
