A Mobile pharmacy is part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal steroid distribution. Applied Pharmacy on International Drive has been under the microscope for possible illegal activity for years. On Thursday, a Colorado doctor pleaded guilty to illegally distributing anabolic steroids.
Federal prosecutors say that Dr. Scott Corliss would write prescriptions for him practice in Greeley, Colorado and the drugs were shipped out of Applied Pharmacy in Mobile.
Now the case is unfolding and Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Bordenkircher says there's more to come."Its part of a long term, thorough investigation on the sale of anabolic steroids and human growth hormones from Mobile and it's shipped all across the nation."
Bordenkircher declined to mention names of athletes involved in the case. He says that the focus is on the heart of the problem and not gaining the national spotlight.
Dr. Corliss could face up to 3 years in prison and a 250-thousand dollar fine when he's sentenced in May.
Prosecutors say more criminal charges will be filed against more doctors in this case.
