Florida state troopers want to know who was behind the wheel of a pickup truck registered to Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder.

The pickup was found at an accident scene at the Hollywood Boulevard exit of the Florida Turnpike in Broward County.

The truck had apparently gone off the turnpike too fast, mowed down a royal palm tree and came to rest up on an embankment near a guardrail.

Troopers found a semi-automatic handgun in the pickup and crutches on the backseat floorboard. Whoever was driving fled the scene.

According to the Dolphins' website, Crowder underwent arthroscopic surgery in Birmingham in December following a knee injury. He is in his third season with the Dolphins and was the fourth ranked N-F-L linebacker in his rookie season.

Troopers are trying to locate Crowder to talk to him.
