Shocking and disappointing... That's how the student body president at Saint Paul's Episcopal School describes a racially-charged letter found in a fellow student's locker.Just before school started this morning, more than 100 students gathered at Saint Square on the school's campus to support Kenyanttia Hackworth, 14.
Hackworth, a freshman at the school, returned to class today, two days after finding the threatening letter.
"Everyone loves Kenyattia here," said Student Body President Carmen Chambers. "What happened is shocking and doesn't make sense," she said.
The letter, which has been turned over to the Mobile Police Department, started "To: you, From: Me" and went on to say "It's black ppl (people) like you that make me sick and I don't like you... I want you to leave now and go to a skool (school) with your ppl (people)."
School officials released a statement Tuesday condemning the letter, but administrators have denied on camera interviews. Police are investigating the note and hoping a survelliance camera in the hallway near the lockers will show who wrote it.
