MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A bill that would ban smoking in work
places and many public settings in Alabama still has a chance of
becoming law as the Legislature prepares for the final day of its
2008 session.
House Speaker Seth Hammett of Andalusia says the smoking ban
will be one of the bills considered by the House on Monday, the
final day of the session.
If the ban becomes law, the American Cancer Society says Alabama
will join 26 other states that have some sort of smoke-free
statewide law.
Gov. Bob Riley says he will sign the bill if it passes the
Legislature. Riley says he quit smoking last summer.

The goverment should not be allowed to trample on the rights of legal smokers by creating a smoking ban. If anti-smoking advocates just started boycotting places that allowed smoking, the business owners will either be hurt and go non-smoking, or they’ll just be saying good riddance, and running their business how they see fit. No politics necessary and both sides win!

Amen !

Personally, I think people need to focus on more important matters like crime, meth, crack, cocaine, etc. then to worry about smoking. I don’t smoke and it bothers me some when someone blows it in my direction, but they as smokers have rights too. If you don’t want to breathe it; move upwind.
They need to be harder on drinking. 20 beers will get you killed or someone else quicker than 20 cigarettes.
