Mobile Police have written 483 tickets in school zones since the start of the school year.
The department beefed-up enforcement at 48 local schools from August 9-24th. They've issued 225 citations for speeding and another 258 for other moving violations, such as failure to yield or improper turns.
Random school zone enforcement will continue throughout the school year, with greater emphasis on the schools that have generated the most citations so far, including three elementary schools – Westlawn, Forrest Hill and Maryvale.
