A Pensacola man will serve ten years in prison for violating the terms of his probation in a manslaughter conviction involving the death of Mary Frances Stewart. Robert Sitler Jr. was arrested at his bond revocation hearing in Bay Minette Thursday. According to court records, Sitler was recently stopped for speeding and for not wearing a seat belt."Your speeding tickets are a direct violation of your probation, Mr. Sitler. Your track record indicates you're a horrible driver and you present a danger to the community," says Judge Floyd.
Sitler begged Judge Floyd not to send him to prison. Sitler told the court the traffic ticket was an honest mistake and not worthy of ten years in prison.
"It's been a hard few years," says Tammy Henley, Mary Stewart's daughter. "It's been a long, painful road and I'm glad it's over and I'm glad that he's in prison for the next ten years."
Sitler was taken to the Baldwin County Corrections Center for processing. From there, he'll be transported to a state prison to serve out the remainder of his sentence.
"He had a total disregard for the community," says Baldwin County District Attorney Judy Newcomb. "The judge revoked him and justice has been served and we have a safer community for it."
