Deputy Adam Teichner isn't used to asking for help.
"I'm usually on the other side, I've responded to dozens of fires before and have seen a lot."
Teichner and his family are facing their own tragedy this week after a fire damaged their Navarre home early Wednesday. The fire started in the garage and quickly spread through much of the house. Teichner's home received heavy smoke, water and fire damage.
"This is the worst week I've ever been through," says Teichner. "We're just trying to salvage what we can. At least we all got out okay. We can replace materialistic things, but not each other."
Teichner, a veteran deputy, says he was able to get his K-9 "Kai" out before the flames swept through the home.
"My dog is my partner," says Teichner. "But he's also a part of the family."
The local chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police is helping the Teichners. They've found a place for him to stay and have collected food, money and clothes for the family. If you'd like to help, call the F.O.P. at 850-983-1243.
