The following is a press release from the Mobile County Sheriff's Department:Mobile, Alabama (September 16, 2007). On September 15, 2007, at approximately 11:45 P.M., Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran was involved in a vehicle accident on Alabama Highway 25. Sheriff Cochran and his wife, Sabrina, were returning to Mobile from Tuscaloosa, where they had attended the football game between the University of Alabama and the University of Arkansas, when their vehicle struck a horse standing on their lane of the roadway.
The vehicle was totaled; however, Sheriff Cochran was uninjured. Mrs. Cochran was treated and released at a Mobile hospital for an eye injury received in the accident.
Both the Sheriff and Mrs. Cochran were wearing seatbelts. In speaking of the accident, Sheriff Cochran stated "the use of the seatbelts saved us from very serious injuries, and I urge all motorists in Mobile County to wear them each time they ride in a vehicle."

There was serious injury. The horse was killed. Poor poor horse. Was the horses blood alcohol level checked? Safe to assume the sheriffs wasn’t. Hey I could be wrong about that though. Glad the sheriff and his wife are alright.
