Parents Staying Connected To Schools

The election of a school board superintendent is too private, and is a “click” matter. The school board superintendent candidates should have to court all schools in the system, allowing parents and students to submit their concerns for their school & community prior to their appearance at each school. The final decision should be made by public election. On the issue of “laying off teachers because the school board is in the red.” I am sure the board’s finances were already in the red when they so lavishly gave themselves an outrageous pay increase, and such a rediculous salary to our new superintendent. I think it would be beneficial if each school board member and our new superintendent gave at least 15% to 20% of their salary back to the board, and forego any superintendent-board pay increases for at least 5 years, to ensure we have sufficiently qualified teachers in the classroom. There is simply too much greed in this country!
