To the family on the child… I stand beside you!!!!  To the mom, please don’t think that you are a bad person/parent.  You know as well as I do, we have all made mistakes in our lives that we regret.  He will look back and regret this one.  To the other family members....(you know who I am) I love each of you and I am here for you.

People get the point.  The child done wrong.  He knows that as well as his family.  Why can’t people just shut up and let the family get some rest.  They are having a bad time dealing with this crisis without your comments.  I know everyone has a free speech.  POINT IS......  Everyone (even the child) knows he done wrong, no one was hurt/ killed, so SHUT UP and let the family and the police handle it.

I have to agree with Bamabob and SumoneILove. I’ve been following this since early this morning and everyone was saying then that the “media was wrong there was no loaded gun” now the story is that there was a “gun and a clip with bullets, but it wasn’t loaded.” If the clip with the bullets was in the child’s possesion along with the gun at school then this is worse than I originally thought it was. It would have only taken 2 seconds to pop a clip in a gun. Doesn’t make the situation better just because the clip wasn’t in the gun. Even if the child was just “showing it off” what if the gun would have accidently went off and hurt someone?

Whether the clip was in the gun or next to the gun does not make that much difference to me.  The fact that he supposedly took them from his father’s home without notice, brought them into his mother’s home without notice and then took them to school is what bothers me.

Kids have been slam dunked for bringing nail clippers to school, so unless this kid is living in some strange vacuum he had to know the potential consequences.  Why did he take that risk?  Why would he want to put his fellow students in such grave danger?  Something deeper is going on with this and as Barney Fife would say, “Nippet, nippet in the bud!”

let all feel so sorry for this punk ,if he would had shot some body u know it would be different ,like murphy kid he needed more time this are punks deal with them now before more people gET hurt .If it takes locking them up do it.Go tell this parents from colmbine its a mistake to bring a loaded gun to school.

“putting something to rest” means to clarify it by getting the facts straight. WHICH HAS NOT HAPPENED. I do not think that this debate will be put to rest until WKRG states that the former statements were incorrect and that the unloaded gun was in a zip lock bag along with a clip of bullets. That is what is distressing Concernedparent so much. FALSE INFORMATION. no one is attacking WKRG. they are doing the best they can and i am sure that once they get updated information they will relay it to us. i also agree with the mother in that this could have happened to anyone. it does not mean that their family is screwed up because this happened. as children we made mistakes. maybe they were not this same one, but we did it. and we suffered the consequences, as this child will, and learned from them, AS THIS CHILD WILL.  whats done is done people. We can only hope that this child learns from his mistakes. I PERSONALLY wish the fam the best, and i KNOW that the lesson has been learned. BH, OUT

Although bringing a gun to school is very disturbing and a serious charge, let’s hope the court system doesn’t throw him under the same bus as the Murphy kid ... the one who punched the teacher and got 3 yrs in PRISON… a least most of the parents on here agree this kid made a mistake and not ready to see him locked up for life.

I have never said the kid should be branded, yoked and made to spend his days in the town square.  He indeed did make a mistake.  A HUGE mistake and if he was my kid I would want to know why.  He is not a toddler that thought the gun was a great toy.  He is a 14-year-old kid and he had to know the implications of his actions.

14 is a very volatile time in a kid’s life and there could be things simmering beneath the surface that need to be addressed now before they become tragic later.  In this particular case, I think a third party might be more successful delving into the kid’s state of mind.

concerned parent,

as a parent of a child who hasnt taken a gun to school, i dont really care what this kid was thinking or why he did it, just that he isnt there anymore. as for the reporting staff, they reported the facts as they received them. its not like youre very consistent in your comments either, so dont dog channel 5. you said in one post the kid never showed the gun, then in others how other kids knew before school. i hate this for the mother and the inaccuracies are a fact of life, she should just go on as she knows best and deal with this in the privacy of her own home. if you were concerned about her mental health you would stay away from comment areas on the net, as most of them are rather biased. i hope the kid learns something from this and i hope a good example is set.
just grateful nobody was hurt. either way a gun with bullets or loaded or unloaded without bullets should be a felony at school. the safety of many other children depends on it.
