TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama coach Nick Saban is hopeful that
Kenny Stabler's recent drunken driving arrest won't have a negative
impact on Stabler's future with the university.
Saban says he wants Stabler to remain with the Crimson Tide. The
former Alabama and NFL quarterback has been the team's color
analyst for football radio broadcasts for the past decade.
Stabler was arrested Sunday morning and charged with driving
under the influence of alcohol. It was his third such arrest since
1995.
Learfield Communications holds the multimedia rights for Alabama
sports. The company has issued a statement saying its main concern
at this point is with Stabler's well-being.
Alabama athletic director Mal Moore has also said Stabler's
friends need to support him.

All I can say is Saban and Stabler belong together..Once a loser, always a loser. They need to stick together. This is the third time Mr. Stabler has been arrested for DUI. Obviously he has a drinking problem. They should make him use some of that money he has to pay for A.A. Saban should go with him since he is so hard up on supporting him. LSU grin

“Tried and convicted him”? He’s already been arrested before - it made the front page of the Mobile Press Register about five years ago. Look at his mug shot . . .he looks knee-walking drunk. How dare people defend this man’s drunk driving just because he’s Kenny Stabler. Are you saying the cop who arrested him is lying and that because Stabler refused to take breath test that means he must be innocent? What are you going to say when he smashes into a car carrying little kids? That’s murder. Look, I drink beer - in the evening at home. I don’t hang out at bars, get drunk and then drive like I own the road and the world. It looks like Stabler doesn’t have any real friends, only hero-worshipers grinding money out the Bama football machine. If he had one real friend he’d be in rehab. Stop propping him up, telling him it’s okay to be a celebrity drunk driver. He needs six months in jail, he’ll dry out there and the right message will be sent, not the cover-up.

Saban & Co have to say something polite, in the usual way that money talks. I imagine those folk have their daggers at the ready, even so. Unlike us, they’ll say no more until after the Judge sentences the Snake.
If I’m not mistaken, Learfield may have had a pro forma resignation on file ever since they hired him, just like Presidents have, from their top Political Appointees. (possibly W doesn’t, but he’s soon outta DC anyway, thank God and Greyhound!)

So you have tried, convicted, and sentenced the man in your tiny little mind. Hmmm, very shallow and uninteresting!

His “friends” are probably a big part of the problem.

What he needs is to do is publicly admit he has a serious drinking problem and tell us he is getting help for it. He also needs to tell his young football and broadcast fans that he did wrong to drive while drinking.
