CHATOM, Ala. (AP) - Republican Governor Bob Riley has appointedHerman Delmer Williams, a Democrat, to serve on the Washington
County Commission. He will represent District Five and the
appointment takes effect immediately.
The 70-year-old Williams, a resident of Leroy, will finish out
the term of Willie Lewis Dixon who was removed from office after
pleading guilty to felony ethics charges in May.
There were no Republican candidates vying for the seat.
Williams will be sworn into office Thursday at 9 a.m.
