It's a privilege but is it deserved? It's a hot topic everyone is talking about: reserved parking spaces for Mobile County Public School board members.
They each have a reserved spot near the doors of where they hold their regularly scheduled meetings.
vVsitors have to park in a parking lot on the other side of the building at the central office off Schillinger Road.
Some say since the members are not there on a regular basis, they should not have reserved parking except for on days when there's a board meeting.
School spokesperson Nancy Pierce says there is a good reason why they have front row parking.
"This is a courtesy for our board members and they do have offices in the new building and so that this way they can come and do their work and if they have to go out and come in before the board meeting it offers them the opportunity park and get in right away so they can start their business," said Mobile County Public Schools spokesperson Nancy Pierce.
Board members also had reserved parking when their central office was located at Barton Academy near downtown Mobile.

Board Members - You are a paid PUBLIC SERVANT - WALK, you all need the exercise. What joke that you think you deserve a special spot. Guess what, you are not special or any different than the person living under the bridges downtown… just ask GOD.
