Tammy Litton, wife of Pastor Ed Litton at First Baptist North Mobile, was killed on Highway 98 near Lucedale, Mississippi. Litton and her daughter Kayla were headed to the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, their S-U-V ran into a stalled 18-wheeler that was out of gas in the right hand lane. The driver put cones out to warn oncoming traffic.
Kayla survived the crash but Tammy Litton died at the scene.
Tammy Litton was set to open a music school at the church next week. Litton's best friend Ellen Stebbins talked exclusively to News 5's Tiffany Craig. She says their love for music and being preacher's wives made them instant friends. Stebbins says the school will opne a week late in Tammy's memory. "Well, I guess it's gonna be very special to all of us. It's her legacy, one of her legacies her children her church and this. (the music school) She's just a person that will be missed by so many and I'll always treasure her."
Tammy Litton's wake is set for Sunday evening at First Baptist North Mobile at 6:15pm. Her funeral will be at the church on Monday at Noon.
