JACKSON, Miss, (AP) - Lauderdale County Sheriff William Solliesays the rapper known as Juvenile was arrested today (Tuesday) for
misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Sollie says Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray, was
stopped on Interstate 20 near Meridian because the car he was
driving had an expired tag.
Sollie says -- quote -- "A small amount of marijuana was seized
and he was placed under arrest."
Juvenile was released later in the day. It was not immediately
clear if he had hired an attorney or if a date had been set for an
initial court appearance.
Sollie, a four-term sheriff of the eastern Mississippi County,
said the case would be treated like any other misdemeanor arrest.
He said the arrest was captured on video and audio, but that
material would not be released until after a court decision is
reached.
Sollie said the rapper, best known of the song "Back That Thing
Up," was headed from Atlanta to New Orleans when his car was
pulled over.
