Just before 1 a.m. Friday, Mobile Police say Edward Hammond robbed the Chevron at 399 Azalea Road. He walked into the store wearing a gray shirt over his face and holding a knife. After a brief struggle with the cashier, Hammond took some money and ran.
Two days later, police caught up with Hammond during a traffic stop. Police also arrested Hammond's passenger, Nicholas Beale. It turns out the duo was already wanted for trying to steal purses from two different women over the weekend. One of the attempted purse snatchings happened outside the Fresh market on Airport Blvd. The other happened outside Colonial Bel Air Mal.
