GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Two mothers of sons with claims ofunjustified assault under color of law while detained at the
Harrison County jail are coming forward.
Ten ex-jailers have been sentenced in a federal civil rights
case involving the jail.
The Sun Herald reports today (Sunday) that Darlene McDougald and
Terri McBay say their sons were also abused while in custody at the
jail.
McDougald says she was told that her son Larry McDougald's
broken jaw happened while he was drunk and slipped in the booking
area's shower in August 2005.
She says jail officials insisted that their officers did nothing
wrong.
She says he received no medical attention while in jail.
The newspaper reports that officer, Broderickl Fulton, who
allegedly threw the unprovoked punch, faces 33 months in prison
from a sentencing in November. According to testimony, jail
officials knew about the incident and did nothing.
Terri McBay says her 31-year-old son Gary McBay, who was jailed
for public drunkenness, told his parents that he had been hog-tied
and beaten for no reason by jailers. McBay was also threatened that
he would be charged with assaulting an officer in November 2005.
He had a broken nose and was rushed to a hospital when his
parents bailed him out.

my fiance was arrested a couple of years ago for a dui even though he wasnt driving the car.... he gave the cops a bad attitude and after cops put him in the back of the cop car they stopped at a gas station on the way to the mobile county jail and had him hog tied as well, pulled him out of the car and basically kicked him and beat him.... afterward they put him back in the car took him to jail.... not long after he was bailed out he was taken to the hospital only to find out his jaw had to be wired shut due to the cops kicking him in his face while he was on the ground , he tried to make a case of it… but it was the cops against him so he didnt think he had a chance.. he also paid a lawyer to put the case up against the arresting officers, but the lawyer didnt even act like he cared, he didnt really ask any significant questions either, so they dismissed the case! it’s good to know the system is always on the public’s side!
