The program visited Mobile Metro Jail today (Saturday), where volunteers shared prayers and advice with the inmates. News Five spoke with inmates in the women's unit who say the program is proving to be a positive experience for them. "I've always had the same attitude coming in and out. I've never wanted to get clean,I never wanted to get my life together, until this time, "said Susan Howton, Inmate. "I could have lost my job, my kids, my home. But God woke me up and I've opened my eyes and I realized that this is not where I want to be, "said Selena Hudson, Inmate.
Michael Hamm is a former felon, who has since turned his life around. Hamm says he wants inmates to know that there is hope for their future."If I can't go back in and be an example that I come from the same place that they are and offer them that hope and tell them they can be right where I am too, then who else is going to do it, "said Hamm.
Organizers say the program has helped over 47,000 inmates make positive life changing decisions. For more information on the Prison Ministry Program visit their website at www.billglasscfl.org .
