A woman who confessed to killing her own child made her first appearance in court Monday.18-year-old Tyese Lewis walked into the courtroom without any expression on her face.
Last week she told Prichard Police that she gave her one-month old daughter Zarial Lewis-Farris to two women who said they worked for an adoption agency in Daphne.
She told officers that when she tried to get her daughter back, she couldn't get in contact with the agency.
It was later discovered that the adoption agency never heard of Lewis or her baby.
Friday night, Lewis admitted that she placed teh baby in a trash can at home and now the child's body is reportedly in a landfill near Brewton.
When the story first came out, Lewis' family stood behind her 100 percent and all they wanted was to find the baby.
One family member told News Five that everyone was shocked that the story turned out to be a lie.
"{Reporter} So when she told you guys this story about the adoption, did any red flags in the family go up at all from anyone in the family or did you guys just really, really wanted to believe her- {Aunt} "We wanted to believe her, we really did want to believe her because everything she said you know whether it was witnessed you know could be accounted for."
The judge set Lewis' bond at $100,000.
She's scheduled to be back in court on Wednesday for her arraignment.
