Alabama Power will increase its home and business rates next year, if
a proposal before the Alabama Public Service Commission is approved.
The Company says that will mean an increase of about $78.00
a year, roughly $6.50 per month, for the average residential customer,
who uses approximately 1000 kilowatts of power per month.
The Company says the increase is needed to cover a rise in operating
expenses, and the cost of doing business.
Unless the PSC objects, the rate increase will become effective January 1st.
