CHICKASAW, Ala. (AP) - Chicasaw police today identified a man
found shot in his minivan yesterday as 29-year-old Benjamin Joseph
Martin.
Sergeant Gerald Thornton said Martin had stopped the minivan at
an intersection when someone shot him from outside the vehicle.
Thornton said Martin crashed into a nearby utility pole when he
tried to drive away.
Police said Martin was shot once in the back of his left
shoulder.
Thornton said Martin moved to Chickasaw in February from
Florida. Officers were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m.
yesterday.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
