Four young men who went store to store last night holding up clerks at gunpoint met justice early Thursday morning when Mobile police chased them into a dirt pit and took them into custody.
Those arrested were: Chase White, 19, 5880 Old Pascagoula Road in Theodore - Two Counts of Robbery First Degree; Milton Harris, 21, 10685 Carley Road in Theodore - Robbery First Degree; Christopher Evans, 20, 5416 Quimby Dr. - Robbery First Degree; Latarian Frison, 17, 5350 Old Pascagoula Road in Theodore - Two Counts Robbery First Degree, Two Counts Probation Violation (felony). Police are continuing to investigate whether the four may be responsible for other crimes.
Officers were called to a Shell station at 6630 Rangeline Road shortly after midnight on the first robbery. The second robbery occurred at 1:21 a.m. at the Circle K at 4362 Government Blvd. In both instances, subjects entered the stores with their faces covered and robbed the clerks at gunpoint.
Police identified the suspicious vehicle after it left the Circle K and attempted a traffic stop on Highway 90. The vehicle sped away and officers followed the fleeing suspects from Highway 90 and Knob Hill Drive to I-10, southbound on Dauphin Island Parkway and eventually to Rangeline Road, Highway 90 and Carol Plantation Road. The chase ended in a dirt pit at the dead end of Boykin Road.
The suspects bailed out of their vehicle and attempted to flee. Officers, fighting through foot-high mud, took all of them into custody.
In a separate case, police also arrested Roderick Hunter Wednesday night for robbery. The victim in this case had exited his truck at his home in the 4000 block of Baker Road about 8:30 p.m. when Hunter approached him. He demanded the victim’s truck at gunpoint.
Police found the suspect in the stolen truck behind Scarborough Middle School and took him into custody. Hunter is charged with Robbery First Degree, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit; and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
