BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Six former death row inmates from acrossthe country have asked Governor Riley to order DNA testing in the
case of death row inmate Thomas Arthur.
The six inmates were all freed after modern DNA testing showed
they they were innocent.
The 65-year-old Arthur was scheduled to be executed December 6
for the 1982 murder-for-hire killing of Troy Wicker Junior of
Muscle Shoals. His execution was stayed by the U-S Supreme Court.
The high court delayed the execution until the court rules in a
Kentucky case challenging the constitutionality of lethal
injection.
The six inmates say Riley should take advantage in the delay of
the Arthur execution to order the DNA tests.
A spokeswoman for Riley says the governor has not yet received
the letter.
