And WHAT vet was making a house call? I am really curious. Most small animal vets don’t make house calls. I’d like to know the name of this vet that does.
That’s right. Let’s return the poor, helpless, injured dogs to their abusers. Let’s reward the owners for neglect and cruelty. We need more dog fighting and more pit bull breeders. This is crazy. Pretty soon we’ll be letting abused children stay w/ their abusive parents too.
Where in the world are the veterinarians treating these 13 dogs? I spend a fortune to keep my dogs healthy and vaccinated. Don’t all dogs have to have rabies shots? Okay so did the humane official look at the tag or the paperwork to see what vet. clinic the owner used? If a child is abused, who is the first person that is contacted? A doctor. And I doubt that “doctor/client privlege” applies in the case of the poor dogs. What in the world did they let them have the dogs back for, especially the injured ones? This is criminal in its own right. The dogs can’t speak for themselves.
This is a prime example of why we need more explicit laws outlining the definition of cruelty. I wish we knew the man’s name who owns the dogs so we can keep an eye on them, too.
I agree with you RM. Extremely poor judgment.....come on - if one of the dogs had to be euthanized and he couldn’t tell the situation was that horrible, he shouldn’t get the dogs back anyway.
I hope this will not be the end of this story. I do hope Officer Miranda will do frequent checks on the welfare of the dogs and will verify that they have been seen by a vet( now and ever?!?). I wonder why he didn’t just take them to the vet? Surely he could have scheduled an appointment that would have been compatible to his schedule. I know my vet is open late several days of the week and on Saturdays and there are always the emergency vet clinics. Which by the way, would probably not cost anymore than a house call! Poor judgment indeed!

I wish they would interview the vet. If this person was a regular client and the normal condition of the animals. I know as a nurse, I have a responsibility to report to abuse to DHR or the police. I wonder if vets have the same responsibility?
